When your President is going out of his way to make his college basketball championship picks on ESPN in front of a national audience you can be sure it is for his approval rating. As those with common sense know by now, politicians don’t really care about people. If they did they wouldn’t have done…well, just about everything they have done since 1913.
So, once again it is the old adage that perception is reality. If the good people can feel good enough about President Obama that they think his intentions are good that may be enough. The people of America don’t have very high standards when it comes to public servants. Barack Obama is well aware of this and his many appearances are evidence.
So, in a sense I guess it’s nice that a President is trying to be in touch with people. But is he really? How in touch with the needs of his people could he be with:
- his ludicrous spending plans and trillion(s) dollar deficits proposed
- so-called stimulus plan (and maybe more to come)
- continuation of Bush military aggression despite calculated moves to seem otherwise
- His proposal for a civilian security force as big as the current military
- His ideas about mandatory government service
- His tax policies that punish achievement and will eventually damage the lower and middle class
- His love for the printing of money out of thin air
- His promotion of class envy, not unity
- and much more
